Cook - HART Hub - Permanent Full-time

This Cook is responsible for ensuring compliance with all Ontario Health Regulations as it pertains to the preparation and safe handling of foods.  Other responsibilities include working within the food services budget and communicating and working collaboratively with Agency and community partners.  The Cook will work to support residents to improve their social/interpersonal relationships, use leisure time effectively, encourage participation in events, encourage and support the development of natural friendships.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a related field is preferable; extensive knowledge and experience would be considered.
• Food preparation techniques, methods and procedures.
• Current Food Handlers Certification.
• Knowledge of nutrition and basic understanding of chemical dependency and its impact on the health and nutritional needs of our clients.
• Experience using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, food service management e-mail, and Internet.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector police records check required.
• A valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification.

Skills and Abilities:

• Math skills and the ability to apply them to Microsoft excel for the purpose of calculating costs, tracking expenses, creating visuals that demonstrate the effect of changes in spending.
• Ability to work independently and interdependently.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments.
• Demonstrated crisis intervention skills/experience and ability to respond to crisis situations as they arise.
• Ability to travel between residential treatment facilities regularly.
• Ability to reach, bend and stoop frequently, work in a standing position for extended periods of time, and lift/move up to 20 Kgs.
